DESIGNER

Having graduated with a first class BA in Womenswear at London College of Fashion in 2018, Trang Hoang continued to gain experience from various fashion houses in London and Vietnam, including an internship in PR at Louis Vuitton, before returning to her hometown of Hanoi, Vietnam and created her first capsule collection in 2021.

Her collections explore the contemporary Vietnamese identity, the human, and the relationship between heritage and modernity through envisions of the past and future.

Fantastical cinema, futurism and traditional Vietnamese clothing are often the themes in her designs. Classic silhouettes are dissected and then reconstructed to create a subtle 'twist' in existing garments. Abstract and sculptural shapes created through experimental draping and cutting came from nature, as seen in delicate silk and cotton pieces. Organic mulberry silks, locally sourced from silk crafting villages, combined with futuristic textiles to start a conversation of merging identities.

MULBERRY SILKS

Silk weaving is one of Vietnam’s longest standing historical crafts. Traditionally considered a status symbol and widely used in Vietnam from everyday clothing to special occasion wear and traditional costumes, mulberry silk has been and will continue to be a cultural icon. We aim to source silks locally from crafting villages to help keep the trade going and flourish for many years to come.
